Scientists consider synthetic artemisinin

As efforts continue to be made to safeguard the use of anti-malarials, Scientists in malaria are contemplating the manufacture of synthetic artemisinin from the laboratory.  

The move is to forestall shortage in the production of the artemisinin plant used in anti-malarials due to climatic conditions. 

The Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Professor Fred Binka announced this in an interview. 

Professor Binka further advised consumers of anti-malarials to remain committed to prescribed dosages. According to him, consumer compliance assists Scientists to assess the effectiveness of the drug.
