Scientists to begin lab test of synthetic Artemisinin As efforts continue to be made to safeguard the use of antimalarials, scientists in Malaria are contemplating the manufacture of synthetic artemisinin from the laboratory. The move is to forestall shortage in the production of the artemisinin plant used in antimalarials due to climatic conditions. The Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Professor Fred Binka announced this in an interview with Radio Ghana’s Theresa Owusu Ako. Professor Binka further advised consumers of antimalarials to remain committed to prescribed dosages. According to him, consumer compliance assists scientists to assess the effectiveness of the drug.
