Ghana  should expect revision of 2015 budget statement- Minority Caucaus 


Ghana should expect a revision of this year’s budget statement in the next couple of months. This is what the NPP minority caucus is claiming. 

The Minority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu at a news conference in Accra said any agreement reached with the IMF stands to alter government’s financial policy for this year and so while awaiting the outcome of talks with the Breton Woods institution, Ghanaians should not be surprised at the reading of a new budget statement. 

He said the 2015 budget was silent on engagements with the IMF, thus fuelling their expectation of a new financial framework for the year. 

Radio Ghana's Parliamentary Coorrespondents Dominic Hlordzi and Augustus Acquaye report that the Minority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, in a general critique of the budget and his side’s forecast for the year, said, if no deal is reached with the IMF, donor fatigue is bound to increase. 

Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said in the last few years, the country’s debt stock keeps increasing, a trend which is worrying and so calls for answers.

He further highlighted interventions in the agric sector that needed attention.

On narcotics, The Minority Leader proffered some suggestions to help fight the trade in the country.

The NPP minority caucus say they will continue to hammer on many other areas it thinks government is not adequately tackling in the pursuit of sound economic growth.
