Making The Best Out of the New Year 


Life on this planet consists of series of years made up of opportunities that can be exploited appropriately for the progress of
mankind. When exploited in a positive way, opportunities will be created for better socio-economic development. 

Every New Year provides mankind with a unique opportunity to correct mistakes in the past for a more purposeful and successful life in future. Failure to do this can result in disaster, not only for the individual but society as a whole. 

It is in the light of this that the New Year must be seen not just as any other year but a special period within which to resolve to do what is right, avoid wrongs and move towards making life better than it was previously. The year 2014 will in a few hours pass away and people will be ushered into a new year, 2015.

There are many dreams and wishes that could not be fulfilled or realized possibly because people were not committed to them or did not plan well towards their achievement. Good planning is always necessary to ensure future progress and achievement. 

As a nation, if the wish of Ghanaians is to remain satisfied with the current situation, then not much can be achieved in 2015 and the years ahead. On the other hand, if Ghanaians wish for better things and work passionately towards achieving them, then all the failures experienced in the past can be discarded and replaced with new desirable ideas and achievable objectives towards the attainment of better life that will bring improvement in the socio-economic development in the level of socio-economic development in the country and catapult the current the status of the nation to a higher level of development.

In this connection, the welfare of the people must be seen to be improving, not deteriorating, for the various sections of the society so that each and every person in the country will enjoy a meaningful life and become happy. 

The year 2015 will provide Ghanaians with yet another opportunity to reflect on the past and re-calibrate their minds as well as re-organize and re-package their social, economic and political life to give hope to the aged and the teeming youth. 

Year in year out, individuals, institutions and nations wish for better things especially at the beginning of a new year but because of selfishness, greed and lack of commitment, the status quo continues to remain the same or even become worse over a period of time. 

The time has now come for the nation to undergo retreats of strenuous self-renewal towards the advancement of the nation, instigating actions that will make the nation great and strong. 

Past resolutions must be revisited and carefully reflected upon to initiate commitment-filled actions geared towards stimulating pleasant moves for the smooth and steady growth of the country. Things cannot remain as they are today so the nation must strive towards a more prosperous life and higher standards of living. 

Great nations have been able to make it so with passion, dedication and honesty Ghana can make it too.
