Charlie Hebdo: Gun attack on French magazine kills 12

At least 12 people have been killed and 10 others injured in a shooting at the offices of French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo in Paris. 

Police said two of those killed were police officers and that four of the 10 wounded are in a critical condition..

Witness Benoit Bringer told what he say: “Two black-hooded men entered the building with Kalashnikovs (rifles).  A few minutes later we heard lots of shots.” He added the men were then seen fleeing the building.

A police official spoke of a scene of “carnage” at the scene.
President Francois Hollande said: “This is a terrorist attack, there is no doubt about it.” 

The Charlie Hebdo offices were the target of a firebomb attack in November, 2011, which occurred soon after the newspaper published a controversial image of the Prophet Mohamed on its cover.

The last tweet on Charlie Hebdo’s account had mocked Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State, which has taken control of large swathes of Iraq and Syria.
