Cop caught stealing cash at crime scene

A police constable is being investigated after video footage showed him allegedly taking money from a crime scene in Pretoria.

The constable, a fingerprint expert, had attended to a burglary at a fruit and vegetable outlet in Pretoria north two weeks ago.

The footage shows the officer pocketing the cash after sending employees at the shop outside.

Reports say criminal and disciplinary proceedings will, in accordance with SA Police Service disciplinary code, be instituted against the member.

The constable joined the police force in March 2008.
