National Chief Imam calls for support for President Mahama's quest to fight corruption


The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu, says there is the need for Ghanaians to appreciate the peace and stability in the country. 

He said peace should not be traded for any situation, hence the need to jealously promote and maintain it. 

The National Chief Imam expressed these sentiments in a message through his Special Assistant, Alhaji Ukzaimah Mohammed. He said Ghanaians should also support President Mahama's quest to fight corruption.

In another development, the Chairman of the National Hajj Committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdul-Rauf Tanko, has announced the arrival of  excess luggage of pilgrims of the 2014 Hajj to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. 

He said the luggage which arrived at the Tema Harbour three weeks ago, had been cleared and brought to the Hajj Village near the Kotoka International Airport to be claimed by owners. 

Alhaji Tanko in an interview with the GNA said all pieces of luggage had been brought to Ghana and that none was left in Saudi Arabia. 

He said in the interest of transparency, and to ensure smooth identification and collection process, pilgrims who did not have their goods in the previous consignment that came, should come along with their passports, tags and receipts for identification and collection. 

Alhaji Tanko said last year's Hajj was one of the most peaceful and hitch-free Hajj's in recent times. Officials of the National Hajj Committee are expected to hold a media briefing and submit a comprehensive report and officially close activities marking the 2014 Hajj.
