Police Service assures support in concealing informants

The Eastern Regional Police Command has assured the public that officers caught exposing informants will be dealt with.

The public has been given the service’s full support in concealing informants from crime suspects.

At a news conference in Koforidua, the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Akuribah Yaagy said the command has adopted the "four Cs" approach to crime prevention.

They are Collaboration, Cooperation, Coordination and Effective Communication among stakeholders.

He remarked that effective sharing of information is the best means to fight crime in the community.

DCOP Yaagy said upon receipt of information on illegal arms manufacturers, the activities of a suspect, Yaw Bediako, was kept under surveillance by the police. This resulted in the arrest of a 57 year old farmer and manufacturer of small arms.

Another suspect, Kwaku Dawutey, aged 27 who works as a driver’s mate, was arrested at Somanya on the 12th of this month for renting out weapons to criminals for a fee.

The third suspect, 30 year-old Kwame Agyei, alias ‘Abacha’, who works at a chop bar, was also arrested last Saturday. 

DCOP Yaagy advised the public not to relent in disclosing any suspected criminal acts in the community to the police.
