Ghana Joins International Community To Mark Centenary Of Veterans Day

A wreath laying ceremony to mark the centenary of the world war one and the 69th Remembrance Day has been held at the Christiansborg war cemetery in Accra. 

The Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur laid the first wreath on behalf of the government and people of Ghana. 

Five other wreaths were laid on behalf of the veterans and all service personnel who have died in peacekeeping operations and the Commonwealth. 

The Vice President, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur signed the Remembrance Book at the Memorial Ark of the Christiansborg war Cemetery. 

Meanwhile, a two-minute silence was held around the UK to mark the anniversary of the World War One armistice. 

A number of ceremonies also took place to remember those who died during that war and all conflicts since then. 

Veterans and dignitaries gathered at the Tower of London, against the backdrop of an art installation featuring more than 800,000 ceramic poppies. 

Services were held in military bases, churches and schools around the UK.
