Student, 15, drowns in Akora River The Agona Swedru District Police Command has directed that residents suspend all swimming activities in the Akora River following the drowning of a 15-year-old form two student of the Agona Swedru Methodist Junior High School, Master Theophilus Ghartey. The incident occurred when the deceased and his friends swam in the River after school hours. The Police said parents of the deceased reported the matter, and a search party, including members of the Asafo Company of the Swedruman Council of Chiefs, was immediately constituted and dispatched to search for the body. The body was seen the following day, at about 2pm and has since been handed over to the family for burial. According to the police, they do not suspect any foul play and have advised school children in the area to suspend all swimming activities in the river due to continuous heavy rains. GBC
