Political Scientist lauds Ghana's Performance under MO Ibrahim Governance Ranking

The Mo Ibrahim Index of African Governance ranked Ghana the 7th on the continent and the 2nd in the sub-region for good governance. 

A Political Scientist, Dr Seidu Alidu who has been examining the index, said although Ghana performed excellently, her performance in the sustainable Economic Opportunities indicators must be improved.  

He believed the country's current challenges account for her poor performance in that area. 

Dr Seidu Alidu admitted that the Mo Ibrahim index is an improvement over the Fitch index which ranked Ghana B. 

He said the current index is indicative that government is working to improve the lot of its people. 

On holding Public Officials accountable for their actions, Dr. Seidu Alidu says it will serve as a good example to other officials who would want to take advantage of the system.

Commenting on reports made by President Mahama in the US, that officials found culpable of mismanagement by the commission of inquiring into the Black Stars performance will be prosecuted, Dr Seidu said it is commendable that government will take action. 

He is sure that such an action will deter officials from conducting government business without following due procedures. 

He urged government to put its promises into action.
