China announces $32.54m new package to combat Ebola Chinese President, Xi Jinping, has announced an aid package of 32 point 54 million dollars for Liberia, Sierra Leon and Guinea to combat Ebola. The aid will include cash, food and materials. President Xi, who announced the package whilst on a state visit to India, added that his country will also provide the WHO with two million dollars in cash and give the African Union the same amount. He said the new aid is aimed at helping the three West African countries fight Ebola, enhance epidemic prevention capability of surrounding countries and support concerned regional organisations to play a lead and coordinating role in fighting the epidemic.
