University of Cape Coast, Legon Re-open On Monday and Friday Respectively

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) is to resume regular academic work on Monday September 8, following the suspension of the five-week long strike action embarked on by University lecturers.
   
A press release issued by the Registrar, Mr John Nyan, indicated that fresh and continuing students of UCC were to report for the 2014/2015 academic year on 8th and 13th September respectively.
     
In August, the UCC announced an indefinite postponement of the reopening of the school due to the strike action by University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG).
    
The University Teachers Association of Ghana has since July this year been on strike in protest against government’s failure to pay their research and book allowances.
    
The government also came out to announce that the Universities should postpone their reopening for the 2014/2015 academic year due to the outbreak of Ebola in some West African countries.

Arrangements for the Re-opening of the University for the 2014/2015 Academic Year

All fresh and continuing students of the University of Cape Coast and the general public are hereby informed that the University will re-open for the 2014/2015 Academic Year on Monday, 8th September, 2014.

Re-opening arrangements have therefore been scheduled as follows:
 
Fresh Students Report 	- Monday, 8th September, 2014

Orientation for Fresh Students - 	Tuesday, 9th September, 2014 

Wednesday, 10th September, 2014 - Registration of Courses (Fresh Students) 	

Thursday, 11th September, 2014 – Saturday, 13th September, 2014 - Online Registration of Courses by Continuing Students 	

Monday, 8th September, 2014 – Sunday, 14th September, 2014 -  Continuing Students Report 	

Saturday, 13th September, 2014 - Lectures begin 	

Monday, 15th September, 2014 - Supplementary (Re-Sit) 

End-Of-Semester Examinations - Monday, 29th September, 2014 – Friday, 3rd October, 2014.

The University of Ghana’s 2014/2015 academic year will also begin on Friday, September 5, 2014.

The academic year  was supposed to begin on August 11, but was suspended due to a strike by the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG).

“Following the decision of UTAG to call of its industrial action, its announced for the information of students and the general public that the University of Ghana will re-open for academic work with effect from Friday, 5th September, 2014”

The University further asked all students to report on that date for teaching to begin on September 8, 2014”

REOPENING OF THE 2014/2015 ACADEMIC YEAR FOR CONTINUING STUDENTS

Following the decision of UTAG to call off its industrial action, it is announced for the information of students and the general public that the University of Ghana will re-open for academic work with effect from Friday, 5th September, 2014.

Accordingly, all students are to report on that date for teaching to begin on Monday, 8th September, 2014.
