Ga Traditional Council declares support for educational programmes on Ebola virus

The Ga Traditional Council has declared its support for the educational programmes to sensitise people to the Ebola virus. 

The council is however worried that most cholera cases recorded are coming from the coastal areas. 

The President of the Ga Traditional Council who is also Otublohum Mantse, Nii Duodoo Nsaki asked the people of Accra to maintain the highest form of personal hygiene to prevent cholera. 

He added that the period of Homowo requires cleanliness and as such the environment must be kept clean within the period and beyond. 

The Gbese Mantse and Adontihene of the Ga State, Nii Ayi Bontey, also expressed similar sentiments. 

Meanwhile, fishermen and people arriving from Benin and other African countries for the Homowo festival have been asked to report to the nearest health facility for screening on Ebola before joining their families. 

This is one way of protecting indigenes of Prampram and other towns from the deadly disease. 

The Paramount Chief of Prampram, Nene Tetteh Djan made the call during the Homowo celebration of the people of Prampram. 

He said it is the duty of chiefs to also complement government's effort at sensitizing the public to this deadly disease.
