NPP in crucial steering committee meeting today to help resolve recent controversies The New Patriotic Party is set to hold a crucial Steering Committee meeting today to seek best ways to resolve the recent controversies that have bedeviled the party. The National Executive Committee and National Council of the party are also expected to meet after today’s Steering Committee meeting, where proposals will be made for consideration by NEC and final approval by the National Council for implementation. The NPP has been hit by controversy which is only beginning to settle. It all started last week Tuesday when a violent group disrupted a news conference at the party’s headquarters convened by the National Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong. No one has been arrested and none of the thugs have so far been identified. Meanwhile, the Council of Elders of the NPP has ordered the leadership of the party to focus on national issues bothering Ghanaians and refrain from the needless internal bickering and squabbling. The Council of Elders also embargoed commentary on electronic and social media on party issues and said anyone who violates these “will be subject to the Party’s disciplinary procedures.” GBC
