Adaklu Assembly institutes plans to boost tourism on Adaklu Mountain

The Adaklu District Chief Executive, Emmanuel Sky Ganaku says the Assembly is to institute rock-pragmatic plans and activities on the Adaklu Mountain to boost tourism in the area. 

He said plans are far advance to establish a market and a central cemetery to help enhance the revenue for the Assembly. 

Mr Ganaku disclosed this at the 5th Meeting of the Assembly at Adaklu-Waya in the Volta Region. 

The Adaklu district is one of the newly created districts. 

It was carved out of the erstwhile Adaklu-Anyigbe district now Agortime-Ziope. 

Mr Ganaku disclosed that the Assembly has constructed a six-unit classroom blocks complex for selected basic schools at the cost of nearly GH¢ 2 billion. 

They include Blidokope, Hlihave, Abuadi, Waya, Goefe and Wumenu schools. 

He said text books, exercise books, pens and pencils were also supplied to all schools in the district. 

The DCE said the assembly is constructing CHPS compounds for some communities, and also renovating a number of existing health centres in the absence of a District Hospital. 

He said the Assembly will establish a District Education Endowment Fund to promote education in the district, and support brilliant but needy students and institute district best teacher and worker awards.  

According to him, roads including the Tsrefe-Waya and Akwetey-Anfoe-Waya will be upgrade to make them motorable. 

Mr Ganaku described the Assembly’s IGF as nothing good to write home about. 

He said the Assembly collected GH₵66,474.80 from January to July, out of the targeted GH₵100,000.00. 

He gave assurance that everything will be done to enforce the collection of rates and levies while efforts are made improve the tourism potential of the District. 

High on the assembly’s agenda is the giving of the youth vocational training to empower them to earn decent living. 

He therefore appealed to people to lend their support to the programme to accelerate the development of the infant district. 

The MP for the area, Kwame Agbodza who purchased a tractor from his share of the District Assemblies’ Common Fund expressed the hope that it will boost agriculture in the area.
