Police officers warned against engaging in criminal activities

Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Prosper Kwame Agblor, has warned police officers against engaging in criminal activities. 

He said the Police Administration would not shield officers found to have indulged in any criminal activities, but deal with them according to law. 

COP Agblor who was addressing the closing ceremony of a two-week Basic Detective Training Programme for the Eastern Regional Personnel of the Criminal Investigations Department at Koforidua, therefore urged them to be of good behaviour and lead exemplary lifestyles. 

Meanwhile, the Director of Public Affairs at the Ghana Police Service, DSP Cephas Arthur, has described the allegations being levelled against the Service by some disappointed applicants in the ongoing recruitment exercise as unfounded and baseless. 

He said the Service has its process for recruiting personnel. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Mr Arthur said due to the elections in 2012 and the subsequent court hearing, they could not clear the backlog.  

He said it is prudent to do medical screening and the other vetting to ensure that the people they are recruiting meet the criteria. 

DSP Arthur said the 2012 examination cannot hold since so many things can change. 

On threat of going to court, DSP Arthur said everybody has that rights so they are free to go to court.
