Government Upscale Skills Training To Equip Youth for Self Employment

The National Coordinator of the National Youth Authority, Ras Mubarak has called on the Country's tertiary institutions to add entrepreneurship to their curricular and make it compulsory
irrespective of the course being pursued by students. 

Speaking at the Conference in Accra to mark World Youth Day
on Tuesday, he appealed to the banks and government to provide financial support for young entrepreneurs to enable them to establish their own business to reduce unemployment.

He said the National Youth Authority has developed nineteen modules and programmes to enhance youth participation in nation building especially job creation.

President Mahama will later in the day launch a ten million Ghana Cedi youth fund to promote youth entrepreneurship.

Meanwhile, an NGO, Youth Without Borders has asked leaders and
governments in Africa to channel majority of their time and resources to develop the youth.

In a statement, it says young people are now tagged as ‘the lost generation’ and many see them as lazy, unfocused, disrespectful, impatient and breakers of the law. 

The statement says all that young people need is the right investment of time, energy, opportunities, money and ideas.

This it says will help Ghana and
Africa to continue to enjoy lasting peace and development.

The statement added that President Mahama's launch of the Youth Enterprise Fund as part of the country’s commitment to youth development is a welcome news. 

It hopes that the fund will enable many young people to realise their dreams of having their own businesses and contribute to national development and Africa as a whole.
