Somotex releases mosquito repellant air-conditioner onto the market

Somotex Ghana Limited, the only authorised LG dealer with 18 retail showrooms in Ghana, has introduced the first-ever mosquito repellant air-conditioner onto the Ghanaian market.

Specifically designed and built for the Ghanaian and African market, the new air-conditioner incorporates an impressive function that uses ultrasonic waves to combat mosquitoes, with all the advantages of an advanced air-conditioning technology, such as a powerful and a rapid cooling and dependable operation in extreme temperatures.

At the launch of the product in Accra, the General Manager, LG Electronics-Air Conditioning Division-West Africa Operations, Mr Jonny Jeong said, the new product operated even when the air-conditioner was off and had a powerful cooling system and also very durable and was therefore perfect for Ghana’s challenging weather conditions.

He said the first-ever mosquito repellent emitted ultrasonic waves that disrupted the mosquito’s sensory cells and caused paralysis, confusion and often death, which also brought about a clean and safe alternative to chemical-based insecticides and repellants.

Vice-President, Somotex Ghana Limited, Mr Pranab Mohanty, said the new air-conditioner was built to withstand Ghana’s stifling heat and humidity by delivering a powerful cooling performance, and assured Ghanaian consumers that the company would continue to deliver products that ensured consumer’s comfort and healthy life.

Due to the unstable power supply in Ghana, he said, LG had implemented the Low Voltage Starter (LVS) which enabled the new product to operate continuously, even at a lower voltage.

Available in all Somotex retail showrooms in the country with a two-year warranty, Mr Mohanty added that, the mosquito air-conditioner contained an auto cleaning function which prevented bacteria and mould from forming inside the heat exchanger and that helped to create a hygienic and an odour-free atmosphere for consumers.
