Sneezing Onto Elbows A Sneeze is a sudden, forceful, uncontrolled burst through the nose and mouth. When this happens, the palm or fingers are used to cover when handkerchiefs or tissues are not immediately available. Sneezing and coughs thus spread diseases like influenza, chickenpox, cholera and tuberculosis. Using the inner palm to cover cough and sneeze is believed to reduce the spread of virus. Radio Ghana asked some people if using the inner elbow to cover sneezes and coughs is worth considering due to the upsurge in ebola cases. Source: GBC
