WHO Recommends Avoidance Of Handshake To Control Spread Of Ebola The World Health Organisation has recommended to people to find different ways of greeting apart from handshakes to reduce the chances of contracting the Ebola virus. It further recommends the proper washing of hands with soap under running water to avoid the spread of the virus and other contagious diseases. WHO representative in Ghana Dr. Magda Robalo said coughing into one's elbow instead of the hands is one way to halt the spread of the disease. According to the WHO, an increased education on the risks factors of Ebola and the adherence to strict hygienic measures are the only means of stopping the spread of the virus. It advises health practitioners to be cautious as early symptoms are non specific, and apply standard precautions with all patients regardless of their diagnosis in all work practices at all times.
