Call To Review National Youth Policy

The Director of Programmes, Ecumenical and Social Relations of the E.P Church, Ghana, Rev Dr Seth Agidi has called for a review of the National Youth Policy with a greater focus on career training to equip the youth with the capacity and skills required for higher productivity. 

In his view, the current state of the policy seems to pay more attention on engaging the youth in short term skills training and employment, a situation he described as unsustainable for the country’s productivity and growth. 

Rev Dr Agidi was speaking at Tsito in the Volta Region at a thanksgiving service to climax this year’s annual rally of the E.P Church Ho-East Presbytery Christian Youth Builders (C.Y.B). 

Rev Dr Agidi attributed the unemployment challenge, partially to the refusal of many youth to undertake vocational and technical skills training that could place them in the job market. 

He urged religious organizations to invest in agriculture and establishment of skills training and entrepreneurial programmes to provide employment to the people. 

Rev Dr Agidi called on the C.Y.B to use their music and entertainment skills in winning souls and stimulating interest in the gospel. 

The President of the E.P Church Ho-East Presbytery C.Y.B Union, Frank Agbeve, asked the youth to use their talents and skills to enhance productivity wherever their services are needed.
