Wonder Crop Cassava Now Assumes Foreign Exchange Status - Expert The Director of the Wenchi Agriculture Research Station, Aaron Akyea, says collaborative research into eighteen varieties of cassava indicate that the wonder crop is not only an industrial product but has assumed a foreign exchange status. In an interview with Radio Ghana's, Mr Akyea said currently ten thousand metric tons of the product is on demand by China and other European Industrial companies, but the nation is unable to meet the demand. He asked government to set up a special fund for the Research station to increase the plants for farmers to produce on a large scale. Mr Akyea asked District Assemblies and graduates at all levels to explore cassava production for export. He said the crop offers a huge employment opportunity for the rural communities. GBC
