President Mahama Appoints Dr. Gilbert Buckle as New Acting CEO
of Korle Bu 

President John Mahama has intervened in the controversy at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital by appointing a new acting CEO, Dr. Gilbert Buckle, for the facility. 

His appointment takes immediate effect. Workers at the Hospital have been up in arms against the former acting CEO Rev. Prof Botwe Okpoti, accusing him of maladministration. 

This compelled the former Health Minister, Sherry Ayittey to fire him and ordered the Board to appoint a new acting CEO, but that decision was never carried out. 

However, on his first day in office, the new sector Minister, Dr. Kwaku Agyemang Mensah directed the Board to reinstate the sacked CEO, a decision which angered the workers who vowed to lay down their tools if it is not reversed. 

The appointment of Dr. Buckle is thus a relief to the workers. A statement signed by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Ben Dotse Malor described Dr. Gilbert Buckle, as an internationally-recognized Public Health Physician.
