Ghana opens Commonwealth games campaign in Glasgow with Judo

Twenty gold medals will be up for grabs today, the first day of the Commonwealth games in Glasgow, Scotland. 

The 20th edition of the Commonwealth Games will feature 71 commonwealth countries competing in 17 sports across 11 days. 

The opening ceremony took place at Celtic Park where thousands of athletes took part before a 40 thousand crowd. 

The Queen declared the Games opened by reading her message from inside the Commonwealth baton.
