Traders kick against KMA’s plan to reconstruct burnt market

Traders whose stalls and shops got burnt during a fire outbreak at Kumasi Central Market last Friday have started erecting new structures from their own resources. 

A member of the Reconstruction Committee, Eric Boamah, told Radio Ghana that the victims cannot wait for the six months that the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has promised to reconstruct the affected structures. 

Mr Boamah explained that the affected traders fear that when KMA reconstructs the stalls, the Assembly would give the structures to different people. 

Mr Boamah made reference to what has happened to former traders at the Krofuom Market who have been relocated to the Moro market but have for six years now, still not returned due to delay in rebuilding that market.
