Police Service Cautions Organised Labour Against Nationwide Demonstration on Thursday The Ghana Police Service says it will not be in the position to provide security protection to organised labour's demonstration if it is held across the country simultaneously. This was made known when a high powered Police delegation met with the leadership of the Trade Union Congress in Accra to discuss the event. A statement issued by the Public Affairs Director of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Cephas Arthur said the Police are not against the demonstration, but its position is that the event should be organised on regional basis on different dates to ensure the Police provide adequate security for demonstrators. The statement also said that the Police Administration has not reached an agreement with the TUC to hold simultaneous nationwide demonstration on Thursday as being alleged by a section of the media. The statement added that negotiations are still ongoing on the way forward. GBC
