Mrs Benita Okiti Duah announces a five-year Aquaculture Development Plan The Deputy Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Mrs Benita Okiti Duah has announced a five-year Aquaculture Development Plan to bridge fish production and consumption levels in the country. The plan will among other things help improve fish production, marketing and social acceptability of fish farming as a viable business. Mrs Okiti Duah noted that the plan comes at a time there is a challenge in meeting the demand for fish locally. Mrs Okiti Duah also encouraged fishermen to do safe and quality fishing and avoid the use of unauthorized materials like fishing with light, inappropriate size of nets and use of dynamite which in the long term deplete fish resources. The Deputy Minister added that plans are far advanced to put in place measures to enforce the fisheries act. Source: GBC
