President Mahama Promises Drastic Punishment For Bimbilla Naa Murderers

President Mahama says persons found in connection with the
murder of the chief of Bimbilla will be dealt with drastically to
serve as deterrent to others.  

He said Government does not intend to interfere in chieftaincy matters but will not sit aloof, as chieftaincy disputes have the tendency to destabilise the country.

President Mahama was speaking at a meeting with the National House of Chiefs in Kumasi in the Ashanti region. 

He condemned the “appalling and brutal” murder of the Bimbilla overlord adding that all the necessary steps to make sure that the “perpetrators of this terrible crime are dealt with according to our laws.”

He said his government will not allow activities of murderous individuals and groups to thrive by creating “so much hurt, pain and insecurity in our community.”

Bimbilla Naa was attacked and killed together with five others on Thursday June 19, by some armed men.

He also used the occasion to donate thirteen new four wheel pick-up vehicles  to the Regional
Houses of Chiefs.
