UN To Resume Cooperation With Guinea-Bissau The European Union has suspended measures limiting cooperation with Guinea-Bissau, following the holding of elections in that country. The decision will enable the EU support Guinea-Bissau's newly elected authorities on their path towards the reconstruction and stabilization of the state. The EU measures against Guinea-Bissau were imposed in July, 2011 in the wake of the military coup and the subsequent appointment of its main instigators as leaders in the military hierarchy. Guinea-Bissau held its first presidential and legislative elections in April this year after a coup in 2012. Source: ALJAZEERA
