Reduction in Road Accidents in the Ashanti Region 97 persons were killed through road accidents in the Ashanti region between January and June, this year. Twenty five were females with 72 being males. A report by the Regional Secretariat of the National Road Safety Commission, indicate a reduction by 37 compared to the number recorded during the same period last year. It was also noted that 21 of those killed were children below 18 years. During the period, 579 road accident cases were officially reported from which 646 people sustained various degrees of injury. One hundred and 17 pedestrians were knocked down while 101 motor bikes were also involved in accidents.
