The hosts will be looking to restore some pride after suffering a humiliating 7-1 loss to Germany, while Van Gaal will be looking to end the tournament on a high, despite his apparent distaste for the 3rd place playoff.

Brazil captain Thiago Silva had to watch his team's semi-final nightmare, a 7-1 loss to Germany, from the stands because of a one-match suspension.
The Paris St Germain player will return to boost the defensive line that Germany tore apart.

Silva will look to limit the contributions of Holland's all-time leading scorer Robin van Persie.

Since hitting the back of the net twice in his team's 5-1 win over Spain and adding another in a 3-2 triumph over Australia in the group stages, Van Persie has not been as effective.

Van Persie sat out the game against Chile through suspension and was bothered by a stomach injury before the Argentina game.
 
Marcelo v Arjen Robben
Arjen Robben has been one of the top players of the World Cup, his sixth major tournament with Holland.

The Bayern Munich winger has led the Dutch in scoring with three goals and will lament the fact that only the excellent defending of Argentina's Javier Mascherano denied him a fourth in the semi-final.

Marcelo will have to work hard to contain Robben's threat.

The Madrid man will know a lot about Robben from his time at the club, as well as clashes with Bayern Munich.
 
Stefan De Vrij v Hulk

Feyenoord defender Stefan de Vrij has started in all of Holland's World Cup games in Brazil.

The 22-year-old put in a solid display against Argentina in the semi-final to help his side avoid conceding a goal in normal and extra time.

Zenit St Petersburg forward Hulk has yet to score in the tournament after featuring in five games.

With the team's top scorer Neymar out with a fractured vertebrae, Hulk will be looking to provide the sort of firepower he displayed last season at Zenit, where he struck 16 times in 24 league appearances.
 
Nigel De Jong v Oscar
AC Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong made a "miracle" recovery from a groin injury to play against Argentina in the semi-final after having to sit out his team's previous game against Costa Rica.

De Jong was solid in containing Argentinian star Lionel Messi and will be looking to limit Chelsea's attacking midfielder Oscar.

The 22-year-old Oscar has scored twice and set up two more goals in the tournament.
