Issuance of Guidelines for Election of NDC Officers Attract Reactions from Groups Within the Party in U/W  Region

The issuance of guidelines for the election of party officers by the National Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress, NDC has started attracting reactions from groups within the party in the Upper West Region.
 
The United Cadres Front and a group describing itself as United Serial Callers have described as unconstitutional the introduction of a clause which sought to disqualify some members of the party in contesting for positions in the up-coming elections.
 
A statement issued at Wa and signed by the Regional Chairman of United Cadres Front Ben Banye and  Issahaku Ibrahim who described himself as the Secretary of Serial Callers in the Wa Municipality said the introduction of that clause restricts the democratic rights of party members to contest.
 
They are of the view that enforcing that particular clause will create apathy and disunity within the party at a time that it needs unity more than ever. 

The groups said Article fifty of the party's says that where on any matter there is no provision in the constitution which deals with the matter, NEC shall by regulation provide for that matter to be dealt with. 

They added that Articles 14, 16, 19 and 42 one of the party have dealt with matters relating to election of party executive officers. 

This however, does not mean that NEC under the Article 50 should issue guidelines in respect of elections.
 
The Regional Chairman of the United Cadre Front Mr Banye and the Secretary of Serail Callers Issahaku Ibrahim are therefore calling on NEC of the party to reason with them or put the party in shambles. 

They maintain that ineffective, innovative and visionless leaders must give way throuh ballot box but not to be covered under restrictive guidelines.
