CHASS Appeals To Government To Settle Money To Facilitate Effective Running Of SHS

The Conference of Heads of Assisted Senior High Schools, CHASS, has appealed to government to settle at least part of the amount owed the public second cycle schools in student subsidies to enable the
managers to run the schools effectively. 

In an interview with Radio Ghana in Kumasi, the Spokesperson of CHASS, Peter Anarfi Mensah, said the schools have not received the government subsidies for the last two terms of the current academic year. 

This has resulted in financial difficulties in the running of the schools, especially in procurement
of goods and payment of utility bills. 


Mr. Mensah, who is also the Headmaster of the Tepa Senior High School in the Ahafo Ano North district said ECG has threatened to cut power supply to the indebted schools while some of the suppliers are also threatening legal actions to recover their monies as well as stop supplying goods on credit to the affected schools. 

Mr Mensah was therefore hopeful that government would offset the debt before the next term begins to avoid any regrettable occurrence.
