Government Response to Spurious Letter that Portrayed President Mahama as Tendered in His Resignation The Deputy Minister for Information and Media Relations, Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu today said government’s attention has been drawn to a spurious letter on the social media that portrayed President Mahama as having tendered in his resignation as from the office of President of the Republic of Ghana. Mr. Kwakye Ofosu said this in a statement issued to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra. “Government wishes to state unequivocally that the said letter is a total fabrication andthe product of criminal machinations by faceless elements with a view to sowing seeds ofpanic, anxiety and chaos within the Ghanaian society”, the statement said. Mr. Kwakye Ofosu said “in view of the gravity of the matter especially the clear case offorgery of the President’s signature in this matter, government has formally requested theCriminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service (GPS) to conductthorough investigations into the matter and bring to book the masterminds behind thisreprehensible act”. According to the statement, government takes this opportunity to assure the people ofGhana that President John Dramani Mahama remains eternally committed to abiding by the oaththat he swore before them to serve them diligently with the highest ethical and moral standards. President Mahama, the statement said “continues to discharge his responsibilities as President of the Republic of Ghana and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed forces; He isat the forefront of efforts to bring an improvement in the quality of life of the people of this country”, the statement added.
