Black Stars bow out of 2014 World Cup tournament following 2-1 defeat by Portugal

The Senior National Football Team, the black Stars, on Thursday bowed out of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil after losing 2-1 in their third and final Group G match against Portugal in Brasilia. 

An owned goal by defender John Boye gave the Portuguese the lead. 

The Black Stars drew level in the second-half through striker and Captain Asamoah Gyan. 

The game became a ding-dong affair with the Black Stars probing for more goals. 

It was an unpardonable mistake by goalkeeper Fatau Dauda which gave Christiano Ronaldo an opportunity to score Portugal’s second and winning goal. 

In the other Group G match, Germany beat U.S 1-0 to top the group with seven points followed by the U.S. 

Germany and the U.S therefore qualify from the group for the knockout stage of the World Cup.
