Dr. Maulvi Wahab Adam Laid to Rest Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur on Wednesday attended the burial service for the late Maulvi Dr Abdul Wahab Adam, the Ameer and Missionary-In-Charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra. Mr Amissah-Arthur and other high ranking government officials joined the family and the Ahmadiyya Community in Ghana to mourn the late Ameer. Vice President Amissah-Arthur, the Speaker and the leadership of Parliament, Ministers of States, the National Chief Imam, representatives of the various religious bodies and political parties, as well as the members of the Ahmadiyya faith filed past the late Maulvi Wahab Adam, whose casket was laid at the forecourt of the State House and wrapped in the national colours. Mr Mahama Ayariga, Minister of Information and Media Relations, who read President John Mahama’s tribute, noted that, the late Ameer had paid his due to the Ghanaian society and what the country needed to do in honoring him was to continue upholding his passion for peace, patience and humility. He said the country had lost a son, a patriot and a pillar of socio-religious equilibrium. He said even though death had shaken the Ahmadi community, President Mahama believed the tenacity of the leadership would ensure that it moved into the next stage of development without any turmoil. “Ameer lived peacefully, cherished it and died peacefully” he added. Mr Ayariga said the government would count on the Ahmadiyya Mission to remain resolute in partnering government to push the nation forward in the developmental process. He said Maulvi Wahab Adam would be remembered for his contribution towards countless educational, health and agricultural institutions in the country. “As we say a sad farewell to this scholar and religious leader, our prayer is that the peace he worked for will continue to manifest in our nation”. The solemn ceremony also attracted hundreds of Ahmadi faithful from the ten regions of the country, Orthodox Muslims, Members of the Christian faith, Mourners who were clad in white , typical of muslim burial eulogised the late Maulvi Wahab Adam, describing him as a unifier, a symbol of peace and reconciliation. In a short but solemn prayer, to bid farewell to the late Maulvi Wahab, the Acting Ameer and Missionary-in-charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salih prayed for Allah`s mercies for the soul of the late Ameer. He said though his passing is a great loss to the Ahmadiyya community and Ghana as a whole, his good works like a trumpet will always blow the impeccable character and his peaceful nature. He asked all to emulate the sterling qualities of the late Maulvi and strive to put mother Ghana first in all their endeavours. GBC
