Maulvi Wahab Adam was committed to peace in Ghana – NPC Chairman

The Chairman of the National Peace Council (NPC), Reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante, has paid glowing tribute to the late Ameer of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Maulvi Dr Wahab Abdul Adam, saying he was a pillar in the cause of the Council.

Maulvi Wahab Adam died on Sunday, June 22 at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after a long illness. Until his death, he was an executive member of the NPC.

“I have lost a very trusted and reliable member of the [National] Peace Council. Someone you could fall on, you could seek advice from,” said Rev. Prof. Asante on Monday, June 23 on the sidelines of the 2014 Youth for Peace (Y4P) Leadership Training.

The five-day workshop, under the auspices of the Institute for Peace in Africa, is under the theme: “Equipping the youth to be leaders and champions for peace, reconciliation and good governance in Africa”.

The NPC Chairman said the late Maulvi was very committed to peace in Ghana.

“I pray we find somebody like that,” he stated.

The Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle, who is a resource person at the training workshop and a member of the NPC, eulogized the late Ameer, saying he was an epitome of humility and peace.

Maulvi Wahab is scheduled to be buried on Wednesday, June 25.

He was survived by a wife and seven children.
