NDPC To Solicit Views From Parliament On The Draft GSGDA On Tuesday 

The National Development Planning Commission, NDPC is to take its nationwide consultative forum on the draft Ghana Shared Growth Development Agenda, GSGDA to the corridors of Parliament next week Tuesday.
 
This is to seek inputs of the Members of the House to the new medium-term development framework for implementation in the 2014 -2017 period.
 
The Policy proposals in the draft have been underpinned with vigorous pursuit of macroeconomic stability and creating the appropriate fiscal space for accelerated investment in key priority programmes that will ensure rapid transformation in the economy.
 
The Commission has already met some key stakeholders during its two years consultative forum across the country.
 
The underlying theme of the new policy framework is to ensure sound socio-economic transformation.
 
This entails changing the structure and composition of national output in ways that enhance broad based inclusive sustainable growth. 

It will also engender innovation in production through skills and technology upgrading, enhancing competitiveness of industry and trade as well as lifting workers from low productive agriculture to high productive activities.
 
The Ghana Shared Growth Development Agenda GSGDA Two is also geared towards putting the economy on a growth path that creates jobs, open up decent work opportunities for all, thereby reducing income and social inequalities.
 
The strategic direction for national development under the new framework is to leverage the nation’s natural resource endowments, agriculture potentials and relatively large human resource base to accelerate socio-economic transformation through value addition and industrial production.
  
This, the document envisaged will be underpinned by partnership with the private sector for the development of critical infrastructure through Public Private Partnership.

The Commission has already received inputs from Development Partners, Research Institutions, Private Sector, Faith Based organizations, the Council of State, Civil Society Organisations and student groups.
 
The leadership of Parliament, Chairmen and Ranking members of the various Committees including Finance and Poverty Reduction Strategy are expected to make contributions to the new development framework.
