Uneasy Calm in Bimbilla, As Gov't Offers 100 Thousand Cedi Bounty For Suspects in Latest Clashes


The government has joined the manhunt for the arrest of the murderer(s) of the Overlord of Bimbilla, Naa Dasana Andani, and three others.

It has offered GH¢100, 000 as a reward for information leading to the arrest of the murderers.

A statement signed by the Minister of Information and Media Relations, Mr Mahama Ayariga, described the incident as “dastardly and despicable crime that must be condemned in the strongest terms.”

While investigations into the matter continue, the statement called on the citizens of the area to remain calm. 

“We have beefed up security in the area to ensure law and order and the protection of lives and property,” it said.

Four persons have been reported killed in renewed chieftaincy clashes in Bimbila with four other persons in critical condition at the Tamale Teaching Hospital. 

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue. Reports say security has been beefed up in the Bimbila Township which has been under curfew for the last three months.

Meanwhile the family of one of the contestants to the Nanum Skin, Naa
Andani Dasana, was confirmed among the four persons killed. 

They have appealed to government to institute an immediate investigation into the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.
 
In a related development, the Northern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ken Yeboah, has denied allegations that the Police are involved in the killing of Naa Andani Dasaana Abdulai. 


He said eye witnesses have given out names of suspects at the Palace at the time of the incident but no Police Officer was mentioned. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana, DCOP Yeboah said investigations are on-going and encouraged anyone with information to make it available to the Police.

The Son of the Bimbilla Chief who was murdered, Dasana Salifu Wumbey is appealing to government to release the body to the family.

He said as custom demands they have to perform traditional rites
before the burial. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Mr. Wumbey, said the family was not consulted before his body was taken away to the Tamale Teaching Hospital Morgue. 

He also accused the Police of masterminding the murder of his father.
