Spain Is Out Of The World Cup

Spain's dominance of global football was brought to an abrupt end yesterday as they were knocked out of the World Cup by an impressive Chile.

First-half goals from Eduardo Vargas and Charles Aranquiz did the damage as Spain failed to contain the pressure from Chileans.

Their elimination means they are fifth defending champions to fail to progress from the group stage at the World Cup.

It was Chile's first competitive victory over Spain at a World tournament.

Spain must now contest a dead rubber against Australia on 23 June, while Chile and Holland meet in an encounter that will determine who finishes top of the Group B. 

Meanwhile in the other game one of African's representative Cameroon tasted their second straight defeat after a 0-4 humiliation by Croatia to become the African country to exit from
the competition with one more game to spare.
