Ghana National Service Scheme Introduces Sustainable Programmes To Curb Unemployment

The Ghana National Service Scheme has introduced a number of
sustainable programmes to help curb unemployment especially among the youth.  

The initiative is to augment government's efforts in tackling
graduate unemployment in the country.  

This was the highlight at the
launch of this year's Ghana National Service Scheme stakeholders' conference in Accra.  

According to the Executive Director of the National Service Programme, Alhaji Imoro Alhassan, the scheme's engagement with major stakeholders will help solve and minimize graduate unemployment.

He said the scheme was fully aware of the challenges graduates faced, especially after their national service and was committed to addressing them.

Over the years, the scheme has focused on creating opportunities for service personnel and building their capacity to access jobs and grow their own businesses.

The scheme also supports service persons to access funds to start their own businesses.

The conference, slated for August 7, 2014, will be on the theme, “Building Entrepreneurial and Employable Youth for National Development: The Role of the National Service Scheme and Stakeholders”.
