Substantive Ministers Are More Precise And Accurate In Their Reports to Parliament - Garu MP 


Reports presented to Parliament by Ministers of State tend to be more precise and accurate unlike that of their deputies. 

This is because; the substantive Ministers know and understand the real situation on the ground and can explain or better defend possible questions raised on the floor of Parliament. 

This was the view of the MP for Garu Constituency and Chairman of the Local Government Committee of Parliament, Dominic Azumah.

He was speaking on Radio Ghana`s Current Affairs Programme, Focus, which discussed the Speaker of Parliament`s directive, to sanction Ministers who fail to appear to do business in the House and rather delegate their deputies.

The Programmes Officer at CDD In-Charge of Parliamentary Strengthening, Regina Oforiwa Amanfo, who was also on the programme said Ministers presentation of report on issues concerning their sectors is one of the means by which Ghanaians can assess the performance of Parliament. 

Madam Oforiwa Amanfo therefore commended Parliament for doing well in inviting Ministers to the House to give a report on their sectors.
