THE DAILY GRAPHIC: Believes there is still hope for Ghana  at the
World Cup. It is happy about the the decision of President  John
Mahama to keep  Ghana's flame burning at the tournament  with his message of encouragement. The paper says Ghana is a secular state but there are quite a number of religious adherents  who still believe that with God on our side, the Black Stars can spring surprises against their opponents. The paper urges the President to use the opportunity in Brazil to heal the nation of the division in the society, especially when some citizens try to politicise sports. It says beating Germany and Portugal to qualify beyond  the group  stage
will be Herculean, but the Black Stars can prevail if  they play their hearts out. It therefore calls for total support by all Ghanaians.
 
 
THE  GRAPHIC SPORTS: Is calling on coach  Kwasi Appiah to review his tactics at the ongoing World Cup. The paper describes last Monday as the most disappointing day in Ghana's World Cup history. According to the paper, the stars were expected to defeat the Americans who football pundits saw as Ghana's best chance of grabbing  three point, but Jurgen Kinsman and  his boys were more fired up for revenge. The paper  recalls coach Kwasi Appiah's  admission in a post match
interview that the World Cup had no room for loss of concerntration
saying he is equally liable for not correcting a defensive problem
which occurred  right under his watch.
 
THE GHANAIAN TIMES: Also describes the Black Stars loss to USA as a jolt to the country's dream of progressing to the next stage of the on-going FIFA world cup  tournament in Brazil. The paper says, many Ghanaians are still in a state of disbelieve as they hoped the Black Stars to defeat USA for the third  time. The paper commends  president
Mahama for calling on all Ghanaians to be supportive and optimistic of victories for the stars despite the loss to USA. It says, Ghana is not a country to easily be counted out. It entreats the stars to learn
from their mistakes and come strongly in the game against Germans on Saturday. The paper hopes that the Black Stars will rise to the occasion and upset their opponents in their subsequent matches.
