Iran Holds Nigeria To A Draw

Arena da Baixada, Curitiba – Nigeria came into this year’s World Cup without a single win in their four warm up games, held to a 0-0 draw against Iran.

Iran will be hoping to pass the group stage this time as they have failed to achieve this in Argentina in 1978, France in 1998 and Germany in 2006.

The Super Eagles best chance came in the first half when Ogenyi Onazi fired a yard wide before Ahmed Musa went close with a free-kick.

Nigeria was on a better side in the first half, but fails to capitalize any opportunity of scoring as the first half finishes without a single goal being scored.

The FIFA World Cup 2014 produces first draw as both teams fail to score in the second half.

Iran will now take on group leader Argentina on June 21; Nigeria will play Bosnia and Herzegovina on the same day.
Bosnia and Herzegovina has lost their opening game to Argentina 2-1.
