Government Settles On Payment Of $ 100,000 Appearance Fee As Black Stars Begin World Cup Campaign With Historical Clash Against USA In First Group G Match

The Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah Arthur, the Chief Supporter of the Black Stars in Natal has stated that Black Stars of Ghana represents the dream of Africa at the ongoing 2014 FIFA World Cup competition in Brazil. 

He expressed his optimism that the Black Star would be the first to excel and bring the greatest trophy in world sports to Ghana and Africa. 

In a presidential message ahead of the opening game between Ghana and the United States of America on Monday, the Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah Arthur said Ghana is in need of new victories, so it is time the country brings back that glory. 

The Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur, said the Black Stars of Ghana would remain victorious over the USA, adding that Ghana is an icon of the political independence of Black Africa, so it’s time for her to use the same breath that Dr Kwame Nkrumah did for the country some years ago to bring victory home. 

He called on the players to see the World Cup tournament as a duty to themselves and the country, since some of them may not have that opportunity to play again at the world cup. 

He urged Ghanaians to stand up and support the Black Stars in order to make the nation proud. 

Meanwhile, a football fan, Nana Boateng has appealed to the Black Stars to have mercy on the country and accept the $ 75,000 the government has promised to pay them for appearance. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Nana Boateng said it is outrageous for the players to now demand $ 100,000 saying it is unacceptable. 

The Senior National Football Team, the Black Stars will on Monday evening begin their campaign at the ongoing World Cup in Brazil as they take on the Yanks of USA at the Arena das Dunas in Natal. 

This is the third time the Black Stars will be meeting the Americans at the World Cup, and in all two previous occasions the Stars triumphed. 

The question that remains on the lips of many football fans and pundits is whether Ghana can make it a triple over the USA or the Yanks will be first time lucky. 


In a related development, a Sports Analyst and Head Coach of Ebusua Dwarfs, J.E. Sarpong has cautioned the Black Stars not to take the US national team for granted as they face each other in Monday’s Group G match. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Coach Sarpong said the Stars should not base their hopes on past victories over the US team since their new coach, Jurgen Klinsmann has made significant changes in his lineup. 

He advised them to be cautious of their defensive build up in order to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
