He said the players are aware of the high expectations of Ghanaians and promised not to let them down. Speaking at the team’s base in Maceio, Brazil, Asamoah said as the lead striker of the Black Stars, he is aware of the enormity of the task on his shoulders and hoped to do his best to support the team to win it matches. In a related development, a former captain of the senior national football, the Black Stars, Stephen Appiah is also urging Ghanaians to have faith in the team. He said the players are well prepared, motivated, determined and ready to make the country and Africa proud, beginning Monday against the US. Appiah, who is a member of the Black Stars technical team in Maceio, Brazil for the World Cup, said he would not be surprised if Ghana or any of the other African countries at the tournament win the trophy.
