Brazil Victory Over Croatia in The Opening Game of the 2014 World Cup

The Selecao of Brazil yesterday commenced their world cup campaign on a brighter note following a 3-1 victory over Croatia in the opening game of the 2014 World Cup in Sao Paolo.


An own goal by Brazilian defender  Marcelo after a short cross by a Croatian striker  Nikica Jelavic in the 8th minute gave the Croatian team the opener.


A 28th minutes strike by Brazilian star Neymar restored parity before the break.


Neymar converted a spot kick to increase the tally in the 70th minute after Fred was brought down in the 18 yard box.


In the 90th minute Oscar made it 3 - 1   to give the Brazilians a comfortable victory in their first opening match.


Meanwhile, in another group A match, one of Africa's representative, Cameroon will play Mexico.

The finalists of the last edition, Spain and the Netherlands will lock horns in Group B, while Australia and Chile also featuring in the second Group ' B' game.
