The Daily Graphic adds its voice to concerns raised about abuse of incumbency, lack of a level playing field during elections, high cost of campaign financing and the increasing number of rejected ballot. According to the paper, even though Ghana has won world acclaim for the peaceful conduct of the 2012 polls, there are some gaps that must be filled in the democratic process to make the desired impact on governance. The paper says for public opinion to be effective, it must be sustained and therefore urges Civil Society groups and the media to continue to mount pressure on government to stop using the country's resources for private political party operations. It calls on the State to provide a little support to all political parties as a way of deepening democratic governance. On the high level of rejected ballots, the Graphic suggests that more attention be given to it by finding the appropriate mechanisms to reduce the worrying trend.
