Drivers of heavy duty vehicles cautioned The Department of Urban Roads has cautioned drivers of heavy duty vehicles to be mindful of the height of loads they carry. This is to protect over head bridges, lives and property. In an interview with Radio Ghana, the Road Safety Engineer of the Department, Patricia Onny, said vehicles with heights in excess of five metres have been causing damage to beams of overhead bridges. She said drivers who go contrary to these rules would be punished. Mrs Onny said this at a stakeholders meeting organised by the Department of Urban Roads to generate ideas on how to repair and maintain over head bridges. Our reporter Sophia Korkor visited some damaged bridges in Accra and has filed this report. GBC
